Legacy Girls™ is the first publishing and storytelling brand of its kind—an intergenerational literary world built specifically to reflect, preserve, and celebrate the lives of Black American girls.

We combine powerful fiction, educational tools, heirloom-inspired experiences, and culturally grounded storytelling to uplift a new generation of Black girls with pride in who they are and where they come from.

We come from Sunday kitchens and front porch stories, small towns and big cities, blended families and deep ancestral roots.

And we deserve stories that reflect our full range of brilliance.

For far too long, Black American girlhood has been sidelined, flattened, or generalized. Legacy Girls™ is here to change that—by offering stories that are historically grounded, emotionally rich, and culturally specific to the Black American experience.

These heirlooms—quilts, ledgers, recipes, journals—serve as both plot threads and cultural symbols, passing down wisdom, memory, and pride from one generation to the next.

From Reconstruction to Civil Rights to the modern classroom, Legacy Girls™ centers Black American girls as the heart of their own legacies—not just surviving history, but shaping it.

📚 Our Stories Begin With Stitched: Zaria’s Story

Zaria is a quiet, gifted fifth grader trying to find her voice at a predominantly white school. When her grandmother moves in, she inherits a family quilt stitched by the women who came before her. As each patch unfolds, Zaria discovers that her story isn’t small—it’s stitched into something much bigger.

Stitched: Zaria’s Story is about identity, confidence, cultural pride, and learning how to speak up when you’ve been taught to stay small.

It’s the first of many.

We believe storytelling can be a form of restoration, and that through stories, Black American girls can learn more than just facts—they can learn who they are, what they carry, and what they’re capable of building.

Legacy Girls™ was created by Tamicka Leonard—a Black mother, attorney, writer, and visionary who grew up searching for stories that felt like hers and rarely found them.

What started as a wound became a vision: to build what was missing.
Not just books. But tools. Worlds. Truths.
Not just for her daughters—but for generations to come.

This brand isn’t trend-driven. It’s legacy-built.
